We are raising children to be present. To meet what is in front of them with curiosity instead of anxiety. To feel their feelings without being run by them. Both love and limits, every day.

Our school

Three pillars hold every day together.

A philosophy isn't a poster on the wall. It's the shape of how we welcome a child in the morning, how we sit with a hard feeling, how we walk together to the park. Ours has three pillars: present, playful, and rooted. You'll see all three before lunch.

Pillar I

Present

Mindfulness, woven through the day.

Mindfulness practice begins at six weeks. RIE-informed care for our youngest, breathwork and naming feelings for our preschoolers. We teach children to notice what's happening in their bodies, in the room, in each other, before it overwhelms them.

Pillar II

Playful

Children's interests are the curriculum.

Learn-through-Play means a child's curiosity isn't an interruption to the lesson. It is the lesson. Reggio-inspired emergent projects, organic and additive-free meals, weekly yoga, gymnastics, and live children's music. Inclusion of every kind of learner.

Pillar III

Rooted

Made for working Sacramento families.

Top floor of 750 N Street, five minutes from the Capitol. Anyone working at our four neighbor buildings receives our VIP Rate, the deepest tuition discount we offer, written into our agreement with the state. We built the school so a parent can lunch with their infant and still make a 1:30 hearing.

The infant ratio we strive to maintain.
Our toddler rooms aim for roughly 1:4, our preschool rooms 1:9. California's state minimums are higher across the board (1:4 infant, 1:4 toddler, 1:12 preschool); we set ourselves tighter targets so each educator can really see each child.

Present " I love Growing Mindfully. My three-year-old daughter teaches me her yoga moves and tells me to take deep breaths when I'm getting upset. Every day has a different theme (Mindful Monday, Transformation Tuesday) and the kids set goals for the week. It's a great place where they get to discover and learn about their little minds and bodies and how they connect.

Playful " Our daughter is now in first grade with three others who attended Growing Mindfully. I'm currently sitting in an assembly for an academic achievement, and 4 of the 4 kids in her class receiving the 'scholar award' happen to be the four that came over from GM. Thought this was important to share.

Rooted " We are incredibly happy with the care our two kids, ages five and two, receive at Growing Mindfully. The teachers truly love them both, the location is convenient, and the included snacks make our days much easier. The leadership and teachers have made it a very homey landing place for parents and kids alike.

Our preschooler knows how to self-regulate, focus on breathing, and express that he has feelings he needs to get out to calm himself. Those are skills many adults haven't yet mastered.

The teachers are attentive and provide structured playtime that helps encourage learning and positive interaction with other children. When the weather allows, they get plenty of outdoor playtime, water play in the summer, and dance time when indoors.

The teachers really show love and care for the students, and have done so much to address any concerns my husband or I have. They were so helpful with potty training, too!

I love the focus on mindfulness and I can really see the changes in my 3.5-year-old. Much more linguistically creative and showing real thought into her communication.

Love, love, love the personal care the teachers give to the kids and parents. The teachers are patient, kind, loving, thoughtful, caring, creative, passionate, extraordinary, and unique. It didn't take long to build trust with them because they're genuinely pure at heart.

Questions parents ask

Eight answers, before you have to ask.

What ages does Growing Mindfully serve?

We serve infants, toddlers, and preschoolers ages 6 weeks through 6 years. We are currently enrolling infants 6 weeks to 7 months for fall 2026. All other ages are added to our waitlist as openings appear.

Where are you located?

The top floor of 750 N Street, Sacramento, California 95814. A five-minute walk from the California State Capitol and four nearby state office buildings.

What is the VIP Rate, and how do I qualify?

The VIP Rate is our deepest tuition discount, written into our agreement with the State of California and four neighbor buildings: 751 N Street (Department of General Services), 1215 O Street (Resources Building), 715 P Street (CalPERS), and 1416 9th Street (Resources Agency). Any state employee who works at one of these four buildings qualifies. Verification at enrollment is via state-issued ID or pay stub. State employees who work elsewhere still receive our State Employee Rate, also discounted from standard tuition.

What is your educational philosophy?

We blend three approaches. RIE (Resources for Infant Educarers) for infants and toddlers. Reggio-inspired emergent curriculum for preschoolers. And mindfulness practice woven through every day, from six weeks onward. Our discipline approach is "both love and limits," supporting children to develop emotional regulation, curiosity, and resilience.

What hours are you open?

Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. We follow a calendar of major holidays.

What are your child-to-teacher ratios?

We strive to maintain ratios that are tighter than California's state minimums. Roughly 1:3 in our infant room, 1:4 in our toddler rooms, and 1:9 in preschool. State minimums are 1:4, 1:4, and 1:12 respectively. Our goal is for every educator to genuinely see and respond to each child throughout the day.

Are meals and snacks included?

Two snacks per day are included, prepared with organic and additive-free ingredients. Our facility is nut-free. Lunch is brought from home. Tuition also includes weekly yoga and music, monthly gymnastics, all classroom materials, and the Brightwheel parent communication app.

Are you state-licensed?

Yes. Growing Mindfully is licensed by the California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division and complies with California Code of Regulations Title 22.

How does enrollment work?

Three steps. First, apply to our waitlist through our online portal. Second, we'll get in touch by email to discuss schedule, philosophy, and the practical details. Third, when a place opens for your child, we'll send the full enrollment packet. A signed agreement and deposit secure the spot.
